Lisa Sachs | Director at the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment

As Director of CCSI, a joint center of Columbia Climate School and Columbia Law School, Sachs established and oversees its interdisciplinary research and advisory work on the alignment of investment law, practice, and policy with the Sustainable Development Goals. She is a globally recognized expert in the ways that laws, policies and business practices shape global investment flows and affect sustainable development. She works with global stakeholders across sectors to understand the inter-relations of investment flows and sustainable development, and to influence investment policies and practices to promote the SDGs and the Paris Agreement. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard University, a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a Juris Doctor degree from Columbia Law School, where she was a James Kent Scholar and recipient of the Parker School Certificate in International and Comparative Law.

  • Denisse Becerra | ESG Integration for Active and Engagement Lead, Americas at DWS Group
    Becerra is a seasoned sustainable investment strategist with over a decade of experience in public policy, investment, and research. She works across sectors—including government, NGOs, private industry, and academia—to drive solutions for complex global challenges.

    As ESG Integration Lead in the Americas at DWS Group, she supports Equity and Fixed Income teams in analyzing and incorporating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into investment strategies and products, advancing sustainable finance practices.

    Becerra holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University, specializing in Development Practice with a focus on sustainable finance, climate change, and energy policy. She is committed to mainstreaming sustainable investment while creating long-term value for investors.

 

  • Abhisheik Dhawan | Sustainable Finance & Partnerships Specialist at the UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF)

    Abhisheik Dhawan is currently working as Sustainable Finance and Partnerships Specialist with UNCDF. In this role, he is responsible for creating innovative blended finance vehicles as well as lead partnerships efforts for UNCDF at a corporate level. As part of his efforts on creating innovative blended finance vehicles, he has led the creation of Climate Insurance Linked Resilient Infrastructure Finance (CILRIF) multi-stakeholder working group over the last 36 months. Prior to joining UNCDF, he worked as Director, Cleantech Practice at Business Development Bank of Canada.

    With 20+ years of experience in international markets and financial services, he has worked with banks and technology companies, including start-ups, in India and the United States, engaging with clients across continents. Over the last eight years, he has shifted focus to sustainable development. Abhisheik started on his banking career of over a decade with IDBI Bank at Bangalore, India’s tech capital, with a focus on the IT industry. Subsequently, he worked as Director at Standard Chartered Bank covering middle market and large corporate clients.

    Abhisheik has completed an MPA with a concentration on Economic and Energy Policy and Finance from Columbia University in New York. He also holds an MBA in Finance from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM Kozhikode), CFA-Level II and a B.Tech. in Mining Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM- Dhanbad).

  • Johan Lopez | Amazon Finance Network - External Consultant at IDB Invest
    Lopez leads financial sector engagement for the Amazon Finance Network, an initiative by IDB Invest and IFC that enhances investment flows, promotes financial inclusion, and fosters collaboration across financial institutions and the public sector.

    With over a decade of experience in sustainable finance, he previously directed partnerships and capacity-building programs at the Institute for Sustainable Investing at Morgan Stanley and served as UNEP FI’s Regional Coordinator for the Americas. He also leads finance sector engagement for the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), coordinating Finance Day at COP16 to mobilize financial resources for biodiversity goals.

    Lopez holds a Master of Arts in Climate and Society from Columbia University, where he also served as an Associate Instructor, and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a focus on Social and Public Policy from Georgetown University.

 

  • Guly Sabahi | Senior Advisor, Climate Finance at the NDC Partnership Support Unit
    Working across both the NDC Partnership's Country Engagement and Knowledge and Learning teams, Guly focuses on providing strategic advice and thought leadership to the climate finance efforts of the NDC Partnership to facilitate private sector investment for the implementation of the NDCs.

    Guly has 20 years of experience advising private sector and public sector clients on energy and infrastructure projects internationally, particularly in emerging markets. Prior to joining the NDC Partnership, Guly was a senior executive in an international engineering firm, working on infrastructure and energy projects for governments in the Middle East and Africa. Previously, Guly practiced for 15 years at Big Law (including as a law firm partner), where she advised clients on equity and debt financing transactions and projects (including PPPs, JVs, M&A, PE fund formation) in energy and infrastructure sectors in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

    Guly has also led the capacity building programs for government officials at the International Law Institute (ILI) – to facilitate energy and infrastructure projects, particularly, in Africa. She has also served as Vice President and Director of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN), where she spearheaded the AIEN’s sustainability taskforce. Over the years, Guly has chaired, and presented at, a number of professional events – focusing on energy transition, PPPs and infrastructure finance, investments in emerging markets, and ESG.

    She holds a Program for Leadership Development (PLD) from Harvard Business School Executive Education, a Master’s in Law in International Law and Legal Studies from Georgetown University Law Center (with Distinction), and a Bachelor's in Law in International Business, Trade, and Tax Law from Fargona Davlat Universiteti.
